Caroline Flack to play Roxie Hart in the West End production of Chicago

Casting news

FROM December 10, 2018 until the show completes its run at the Phoenix Theatre on January 5, 2019, Caroline Flack will play Roxie Hart.

She will star alongside YouTube and Drag Race star Todrick Hall as Billy Flynn, Josefina Gabrielle as Velma Kelly, Mazz Murray as Mama Morton and Paul Rider as Amos Hart.

Flack, who won Strictly Come Dancing in 2014, made her stage debut in the UK tour of Crazy for You. She said: “I’ve been imagining playing Roxie since I was a teenager. To have now landed the role in the West End is a dream come true. I hope I do everyone proud and don’t fall off the ladder!”

The role of Roxie Hart is played by Sarah Soetaert until December 8, 2018.

The Kander and Ebb musical tells the story of Roxie Hart, a nightclub singer who dreams of headlining in Vaudeville, but only achieves celebrity status when she murders her lover and enlists the help of Billy Flynn, Chicago’s shrewdest lawyer, to whip up the publicity surrounding the case and ensure her acquittal.

Described as slick, sexy and sassy, Chicago has choreography by Ann Reinking in the style of the legendary Bob Fosse and a Jazz score that includes And All That Jazz, Razzle Dazzle and Cell Block Tango.

Tony Award-winning musical Come From Away begins performances at the Phoenix Theatre on January 30, 2019.
