IMAGES have been released of Director Maureen Lipman and the cast rehearsing for the world stage premiere of Jack Rosenthal’s The Knowledge. To view them, click here.

Previously Posted: Casting has been announced for the world stage premiere of Jack Rosenthal’s The Knowledge. Adapted for the stage by Simon Block and directed by Maureen Lipman, it runs at Charing Cross Theatre from September 11 (previews from September 4) to November 11, 2017.

The line up includes Steven Pacey (as Mr. Burgess), Celine Abrahams (Brenda), James Alexandrou (Gordon), Jenna Augen (Val), Louise Callaghan (Miss Staveley), Ben Caplan (Ted), Michael Chance (Arab tourist), Alice Felgate (Janet) and Fabien Frankel (Chris).

Steven Pacey was nominated for an Olivier Award for his performance as Bertie Wooster in the musical By Jeeves. His many other West End appearances include Peter in Relative Values, King Arthur in Spamalot, Larkin in Six Degrees of Separation and George in La Cage Aux Folles.

Celine Abrahams played Roxanne in McMafia (BBC) and Olga in Three Sisters (Union Theatre). She also appeared in 5 Kinds of Silence at the Arcola Theatre.

James Alexandrou is best known for playing Martin Fowler in EastEnders from 1996 – 2007. As part of the Shakespeare 450 celebrations, he played Iago in Grassroots Shakespeare London’s production of Othello at Leicester Square Theatre and also performed sonnets at the Guildhall with Damian Lewis. His recent stage roles include Romeo in Romeo & Juliet at The Globe, Milo in Sleuth and Paul Baumer in All Quiet on the Western Front.

Jenna Augen won Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the UK Theatre Awards for her portrayal of Daphna in Bad Jews (St James Theatre/Arts Theatre). Her other roles include Foible in The Way of the World (Chichester Festival Theatre) and Ada Kahn in Chicken Soup with Barley (Royal Court).

Louise Callaghan played Sarah Box in Foxfinder (Theatre 503), Lynette in Noughts and Crosses (Royal Shakespeare Company) and Lizzie Bains in Holding Fire! (Shakespeare’s Globe).

Ben Caplan was series regular PC Peter Noakes in Call the Midwife and Walter “Smokey” Gordon in the six-part HBO series Band of Brothers. In the West End he played Eddie Kassner in Sunny Afternoon.

Michael Chance was most recently in Lettice and Lovage at the Menier Chocolate Factory.

Alice Felgate was series regular Ellie Mason in You, Me & Them (Gold) and played Lila in Plaques & Tangles (Royal Court).

Fabien Frankel recently graduated from LAMDA and is making his professional debut in The Knowledge.

The Knowledge is based on the iconic 1979 TV film comedy in which director Maureen Lipman played a leading role.
