Chickenshed's Young Company to present Feel the Love

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

CHICKENSHED’S Young Company is presenting Feel the Love, a world of love, loss, hope and heartbreak, at Chickenshed Theatre, Chase Side from Tuesday, July 2 to Friday, July 12, 2019.

Chickenshed’s 250-strong Youth Theatre will take audiences on a journey that endeavours to answer these questions: What are we all seeking? And what is it that connects us human beings?

The show will feature a series of important perspectives from young people including themes of dating, family, friendship, puberty, LGBT identity, image, choice, romantic highs and lows, and what it feels like to be displaced – living between the cracks of this world.

Expect a pulsing live soundtrack, visceral choreography, immersive staging, multimedia and glitter. Imagine the thrill of a party that raises the roof and the quietude that follows with the feeling still buzzing in your chest.

Freya Ridings is hoping to be at Feel the Love on Tuesday, July 2 at 7pm. She said:

“I first came to Chickenshed ten years ago to do a summer course for home educated kids. I was extremely shy and not at all sure I wanted to join in, but Charlotte and the students running the course soon got me involved and I ended up having a great time. I’ve been lucky enough to see quite a few Chickenshed shows over the years and what has always struck me is the energy and feeling of joy coming from the whole cast.

“Yes, Chickenshed is an inclusive theatre where everyone helps to tell the story, but it also makes really successful and engaging drama that’s heartfelt and moving and stays in your mind for a long time after the show.

“I was delighted to hear that the Young Company chose my song, Lost Without You, to be in their show Feel The Love because I saw the original version when my brother was part of the Youth Theatre and I loved it.

“It’s a great honour and I’m excited to see it again and to see what this new cast will bring to the show.

“Wishing you all the best for the opening night. I can’t wait! Lots of love, Freya Ridings xxx”
