It will be the Jamie Lloyd Company’s second show in the Playhouse Season, following Martin Crimp’s new adaptation of Edmond Rostand’s 1897 comedy Cyrano de Bergerac starring James McAvoy in the title role.

A young woman is desperate for fame and a way out. A young man is pining after the woman of his dreams. A successful writer longs for a sense of achievement. An actress wants to fight the changing of the times. In an isolated home in the countryside where dreams are in tatters, hopes dashed, hearts broken and there is nowhere left to turn, the only option is to turn on each other.

Emilia Clarke’s screen credits include Last Christmas, Game of Thrones (as Daenerys Targaryen), Solo: A Star Wars Story and Me Before You. In 2013, she made her Broadway stage debut playing Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

Jamie Lloyd will also direct Frank McGuiness’ version of Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House in which two-time Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain will make her West End debut. The third production in the Playhouse Season, it runs from June 10 to September 5, 2020.
