Full casting announced for the 2020 UK and Ireland tour of Million Dollar Quartet

FULL casting has been announced for the 2020 UK and Ireland tour of the Tony Award-winning musical Million Dollar Quartet, which visits New Wimbledon Theatre from April 7 to April 11.

Million Dollar Quartet is based on the famous recording session that brought together Rock ‘n’ Roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time.

Returning to the stage in their much celebrated roles are Robbie Durham (as Johnny Cash), Ross William Wild (Elvis Presley), Matthew Wycliffe (Carl Perkins) and Katie Ray (Dyanne), with the role of Jerry Lee Lewis shared across the tour by Ashley Carruthers, Martin Kaye and Matthew Wycliffe.

They join Peter Duncan, who also returns to the musical as Sam Phillips, following rave reviews for his performance in the 2017 UK tour.

Robbie Durham’s stage credits include High Fidelity (Turbine Theatre), Nashville Live (UK Tour), Million Dollar Quartet (UK Tour/New Zealand/India), Billy Elliot (Victoria Palace Theatre), Hoods (Arts Theatre), Sunny Afternoon (Harold Pinter Theatre), Dreamboats and Petticoats (Playhouse Theatre/Wyndhams Theatre/UK Tour), Kiss Me, Kate (Upstairs at the Gatehouse), The Confession Room (Landor Theatre) and Broadway to West End (Theatre Royal Dury Lane).

Ross William Wild’s stage credits include Million Dollar Quartet (UK Tour), Bare: The Rock Musical (Union Theatre/Greenwich Theatre), The Witches Of Eastwick (The Watermill Theatre), We Will Rock You (UK Tour), Grease (UK Tour), American Idiot (UK Tour), Like Me (Waterloo East Theatre), Les Miserables (Mitchell Theatre) and The Wild Party (Edinburgh Fringe). He has also had the privilege of performing the National Anthem for Her Majesty the Queen with Highland Heartbeat and at the Braemar Gathering.

Matthew Wycliffe’s stage credits include The Buddy Holly Story (Duchess Theatre/UK Tour/Texas/Canada), Jersey Boys (Prince Edward Theatre), Carnaby Street (UK Tour), The Commitments (Palace Theatre) and Million Dollar Quartet (UK Tour/Royal Festival Hall/New Zealand/India). Last year, he appeared on piano with Ed Sheeran in his Heinz Edchup commercial.

Katie Ray

Katie Ray’s stage credits include Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (UK Tour), The Sound of Music (London Palladium), Tenderly (New Wimbledon Theatre), Million Dollar Quartet (UK Tour), Zorro (UK Tour) and Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (New London Theatre).

Ashley Carruthers began playing the piano at the age of five showing incredible early promise and talent and has quickly risen to become one of the most talented pianists performing in the world today. He has worked as a performer, musician and teacher with numerous ballet companies, performing arts colleges and as a soloist on the world’s top cruise lines. Most recently, he has been performing throughout the USA and touring internationally with his own Rock ’n’ Roll piano show.

Martin Kaye is an internationally-acclaimed pianist, singer and songwriter. Having played the role of Jerry Lee Lewis in numerous productions of Million Dollar Quartet on a North American Tour, Las Vegas, two UK Tours, Pittsburgh PCLO and Norwegian Cruises, he returns to the production, marking eight years with the show. During his time in Million Dollar Quartet he has won a Vegas Seven Award for Best Actor, was nominated for a Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Lead Actor, and has appeared on BBC’s The One Show, as well as at the Royal Festival Hall in London and the Kennedy Center in Washington DC.

The tour opens at Southampton’s Mayflower Theatre on Tuesday, March 10, before continuing to Southend, Sunderland, Cambridge, Wimbledon, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Dublin, Nottingham, Aylesbury, Bromley, Plymouth, Cheltenham, Salisbury, Bradford and Wolverhampton.
