Giles Terera

Story by Jack Foley

OLIVIER Award-winning actor Giles Terera has withdrawn from Rachel Chavkin’s upcoming revival of The American Clock at The Old Vic.

Terera, who recently starred as Aaron Burr in the West End premiere of Hamilton, has stated “personal reasons” for his decision.

Two actors have been confirmed to replace him. First up, Clarke Peters will play the roles of Robertson, Moe 3 and Taylor until March 2. The actor is best known for his iconic role on The Wire.

Sule Rimi, currently appearing in Sweat at Donmar Warehouse, will then take over the roles from March 4 and will stay with the show until its conclusion on March 30.

The American Clock is due to begin its first preview on February 4, and there are currently no plans to change this.

Chavkin’s revival of Arthur Miller’s play marks the first of two Miller productions in the Old Vic’s 2019 season, with Headlong co-producing All My Sons, which runs after The American Clock from April 2019.
