Margaret Thatcher Queen of Soho - Wilton's Music Hall

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

FOLLOWING five sell-out runs at the Edinburgh Festival and London’s Leicester Square Theatre, the critically acclaimed Margaret Thatcher Queen of Soho transfers to Wilton’s Music Hall, where it plays from March 26 to March 30, 2019.

As the UK exits the EU stage, the Iron Lady returns to the spotlight in this acclaimed and outrageous 80s drag cabaret extravaganza! On the eve of a crucial vote, Maggie gets lost in Soho and accidentally becomes a cabaret superstar. Will she change her mind about the homophobic bill before it’s too late…?

Described as a big gay odyssey about LGBT rights, the 80s and disco, Margaret Thatcher Queen of Soho was created by Olivier Award winner Jon Brittain, who also directs, and Matt Tedford.

Performer and co-writer, Matt Tedford is pulling on the tights once more to give audiences an insight into the difference an individual could have made with a sideswipe at homophobia and censorship.

Presented by James Seabright by arrangement with Áine Flanagan Productions, Margaret Thatcher Queen of Soho is designed by Christopher Hone and has lighting by Alex Fernandes. The cast also includes Jacob Jackson and Danny Stokes.

On Friday, March 29, from 9.30pm there will be a special one-off club night, Margaret Thatcher Queen of Club Nights, marking the UK’s exit from the EU stage. There will be non-stop 80s hits from a non-stop 80s witch as the Iron Lady drops more beats than Theresa May has dropped manifesto pledges. As Corbyn takes his party back to the 70s, Maggie takes hers to the 80s! Featuring dance-offs, lip-sync battles and more. Tickets are £15 or £10 with a ticket to the same Friday, March 29 show of Margaret Thatcher Queen of Soho.

Margaret Thatcher Queen of Soho has received rave reviews across the board and won huge acclaim after playing to an audience of over 15,000 during five completely sold-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe, two sold-out runs at the Leicester Square Theatre (March and December 2015), a full run at Theatre503 in 2013 plus inclusion in the ThatcherWrite festival, also in 2013.
