Maria Friedman brings her acclaimed one-woman show to Chickenshed's Rayne Theatre

ON SUNDAY, March 17, 2019, Maria Friedman will be performing her acclaimed one-woman show, Maria sings Lenny and Steve, at Chickenshed’s Rayne Theatre.

The three-time Olivier award-winning actress, singer and director will be exploring the work of Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim, comparing and contrasting songs from their separate catalogues, as well as their joint masterpiece West Side Story.

Songs will include New York, New York, I Can Cook Too, Losing My Mind and Send in the Clowns.

Maria Friedman has appeared in many Sondheim musicals including Sweeney Todd, Sunday in the Park with George, Follies, Merrily We Roll Along, A Little Night Music, Passion and Anyone Can Whistle.

She has won three Olivier Awards – for By Special Arrangement, Ragtime and Sondheim’s Passion in which she starred alongside Michael Ball. Her other musical theatre credits include Chicago, Lady in the Dark, The Witches of Eastwick and The Woman in White, both in the West End and on Broadway.

Her directing credits include Merrily We Roll Along (Menier Chocolate Factory/Harold Pinter Theatre) and High Society (The Old Vic).

Maria sings Lenny and Steve is a fund-raising concert with all proceeds going to support Chickenshed’s life-changing work.
