The Band - Theatre Royal Haymarket

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

FOLLOWING a highly successful tour, The Band is transferring to the West End. Written by Olivier Award winning writer Tim Firth and featuring the music of Take That, it runs at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from December 1, 2018 to January 12, 2019.

It’s 1992 and for five 16 year old girls, the band is everything. As this group of girls who were once inseparable reunite after 25 years apart, they try once more to fulfil their dream of meeting the boyband whose music became the soundtrack to their lives.

Songs include Never Forget, Back for Good, A Million Love Songs, Greatest Day, The Flood, Relight My Fire, Shine and Rule the World.

Five To Five is the hugely popular boy band comprising singers AJ Bentley, Nick Carsberg, Curtis T Johns, Yazdan Qafouri and Sario Solomon, whose lives were transformed when they won their roles in The Band through the BBC’s Let It Shine competition, on which Gary Barlow was a judge.

The cast also includes Alison Fitzjohn, Emily Joyce, Rachel Lumberg, Jayne McKenna, Faye Christall, Katy Clayton, Rachelle Diedricks, Sarah Kate Howarth, Lauren Jacobs, Martin Miller and Andy Williams.

The show is produced by David Pugh and Dafydd Rogers, along with original Take That members, Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Mark Owen and Robbie Williams, and is directed by long-time Take That collaborator Kim Gavin, and Jack Ryder.

Heathers The Musical continues at the Theatre Royal Haymarket until November 24, 2018. Also coming to the venue: Only Fools and Horses The Musical (from February 9, 2019)
