The British Theatre Challenge - Jack Studio Theatre

THE British Theatre Challenge returns to the Jack Studio Theatre from Tuesday, October 1 to Saturday, October 5, 2019, with five new plays wrapped into one very entertaining evening.

Produced by Sky Blue Theatre, the challenge is open to all playwrights, and their eighth year has seen 280 short plays submitted from 14 different countries making this the biggest challenge yet.

The British Theatre Challenge has been supporting and producing work by emerging and established writers across the globe since 2012. In the past few years over 40 winning plays have been offered publication as a direct result of the challenge.

This year’s winning plays are:

Cougar by Michael Fenlason
Antisocial by Media Julie Barnett
For Abby by Holli Harms
Trick or Treat by Ron Asher
Fabio the Great by Elspeth Tilley

The plays are directed by John Mitton and Christina Bartram and lighting design is by Nic Brownlie. Casting will be announced shortly.

The British Theatre Challenge is suitable for ages 16+.

Also at the Jack Studio Theatre: the European premiere of Charles Darwin: Collapsing Creation (until August 31); The Strange Case of Jekyll & Hyde from Arrows and Traps Theatre Company (September 3 to September 28); and Douglas Baker’s adaptation of Herman Melville’s Moby Dick (October 8 to October 26, 2019).
