Tim Howar to play The Phantom in the W/E production of The Phantom of the Opera

ON September 3, 2018, Tim Howar will take over the lead role in The Phantom of the Opera, which is currently booking at Her Majesty’s Theatre until March 2, 2019.

Howar, who is scheduled to stay in the role until December 8, 2018, was last seen on stage playing Freddie alongside Michael Ball and Alexandra Burke in Chess at the London Coliseum.

Singer Tim Howar is best known as the lead vocalist with Mike + the Mechanics. He made his West End debut as the male lead in Peggy Sue Got Married and went on to appear in West End productions of Rent and Rock of Ages. In his native Canada, he starred in Broadway productions of Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Miss Saigon, Tommy, The House of Martin Guerre and Les Misérables.

Also joining the cast on September 3 are Kimberly Blake (Aspects of Love) as Carlotta and Ross Dawes (The Rink) as Monsieur Firmin.

Kelly Mathieson, Jeremy Taylor, Amy Manford, Mark Oxtoby, Jacinta Mulcahy, Paul Ettore Tabone, Georgia Ware and Scott Davies will continue in their roles.

Speaking of Howar’s casting, Producer Cameron Mackintosh said: “Tim Howar’s exciting vocal take on the iconic score of the Phantom brings a contemporary fresh approach to this legendary role which blew us away at his audition.”
