Wicked continues into 2014

Louise Dearman by Matt Crockett

WICKED, the record-breaking West End musical now in its 7th year at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, has once again extended its booking period, this time until Saturday, April 26, 2014.

Acclaimed as “the most popular show in the West End” by Time Out, the Olivier and Evening Standard Award-winning London production has now been seen by almost five million theatregoers since its West End premiere in 2006.

Already the 16th longest-running West End musical of all time, Wicked currently stars Louise Dearman (as Elphaba), Gina Beck (Glinda), Ben Freeman (Fiyero), Louise Plowright (Madame Morrible), Keith Bartlett (The Wizard), Christopher Howell (Doctor Dillamond), Sam Lupton (Boq), Katie Rowley Jones (Nessarose), Hayley Gallivan (Standby Elphaba) and Lucy van Gasse (Standby Glinda).

While continuing its open-ended West End run, Wicked has also recently announced a major tour of the UK and Ireland, which opens at the Palace Theatre in Manchester on September 12, 2013.

Based on Wicked – The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, the acclaimed novel by Gregory Maguire that re-imagined the stories and characters created by L. Frank Baum in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Wicked tells the incredible untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two girls who first meet as sorcery students.

Wicked has music and lyrics by Academy Award-winner Stephen Schwartz, a book by Winnie Holzman and is directed by two-time Tony Award-winner and Olivier Award nominee Joe Mantello.

Wicked spearheads and supports a range of good causes born out of the themes of the award-winning musical. For more information visit www.WickedForGood.co.uk.
