GIGLI took a total of six unwanted
Golden Raspberry awards, at the least coveted ceremony of the
awards season.
The Jennifer Lopez/Ben Affleck turkey, which was one of last
year's biggest flops, took the worst actor, worst actress, worst
movie and worst director accolades, among its haul.
The Razzies, as they are affectionately known, recognise the
worst films of the year and are traditionally held the night before
the Oscars.
Needless to say, there is no red carpet and stars very rarely
put in an appearance - except for Tom Green, who attempted to
make light of the situation when he was honoured with Freddy Got
Fingered.
Gigli beat off strong competition from the likes of The
Cat in the Hat, starring Mike Myers, in the adaptation of
the classic Dr Seuss tale, and Charlie's
Angels: Full Throttle.
But Gigli, which found Lopez as a lesbian assassin who falls
in love with Affleck's hapless thug while babysitting a potential
hit, was the obvious choice in all the major categories.
Its director, Martin Brest, was also 'humiliated', with worst
director and worst screenplay titles.
The Cat in the Hat did not escape totally, however, as it triumphed
in the new category of Worst Excuse for an Actual Movie, while
Razzie favourite, Sylvester Stallone, 'achieved' a milestone by
winning his 10th Razzie award, for Spy
Kids 3-D: Game Over.
He now has a record tally of 30 nominations to his name.
And Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle was named worst remake or
sequel, with Demi Moore named worst supporting actress.
