A TEASER trailer for Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge Of The
Sith has finally been released online to AOL members or subscribers
to Hyperspace, the members-only section of the official Star
Wars website.
The trailer teases viewers in exactly the way that it should,
featuring an introduction taken from the famous speech from Obi-Wan
Kenobi in Episode IV,
in which Alec Guiness talks of 'a young Jedi named Darth Vader'.
It is intercut with footage from Episodes II and III, before
kicking into the real stuff - footage from the upcoming movie.
Hayden Christensen, who reprises his role as Anakin Skywalker
after memorable turns in Shattered
Glass and on-stage in This
Is Our Youth, looks suitably evil, wearing a hooded cloak
and sporting a curiously red eye.

There's also glimpses of Yoda twirling
his trusted lightsaber again, as well as a shot of Mustafa, the
lava planet upon which Anakin's fate is sealed.
There's plenty of light-sabre action, the huge battle which reportedly
opens the movie, and series regulars, Samuel L Jackson, Natalie
Portman and Ian McDiarmid. Oh, and Chewbacca and his wookie pals
also appear to have got a look in, along with C3PO and R2-D2.
Everything you could wish for and a little bit more?
Pretty much, especially since there's even a teasing glimpse
of dark lord Vader himself, albeit a fleeting one.
The Revenge of the Sith isn't due to be released until May 2005,
but with Warner Bros stoking up the rivalry with the recent release
of the first Batman
Begins trailer, George Lucas and co have clearly not been
resting on their laurels.
And it could just be that the lukewarm reviews which have so
far greeted his prequels could yet turn to roars of acclaim come
the end of this particular instalment.
It seems as though bridging the gap might not be as difficult
or ill-judged as first thought, making 2005 a very hot prospect
for the blockbuster cinema-goer.
The Force seems strong on this one.
