September 11, 2001 - New York remembered
Compiled by Jack Foley
THE events of September 11, 2001, continue to live on in the psychology of
every man, woman and child who witnessed them unfold on that fateful day last
year. Needless to say, it has changed our perception of the world, and given
rise to a great deal of insecurity, as the hunt for the masterminds behind
the atrocities continues.
As the first anniversary of those events approaches, television stations have
been broadcasting special tribute programmes designed at recognising the bravery
and heroism displayed on that day, as well as remembering the countless, innocent
lives that were lost. Newspapers, too, have been flooded with images taken
from the attacks on New York, while the shelves of bookshops have once again
been filled with pictoral tributes to the events of that day.
Indielondon has decided to round-up some of the books that are currently available,
while also taking a look at some of those devoted to a New York untouched
by terror, and loved by tourists, prior to the attacks.

NEW YORK, SEPTEMBER 11 - MAGNUM PHOTOGRAPHERS:
The book contains many startling images from the day - of the attack
itself and its aftermath, when a nation struggled to come to terms with
what had happened and pulled together in great adversity. It pays tribute

bravery which took place in the hours and days after the attrocity;
while mourning the loss of those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Each
photographer whose work is depicted was working or living in the Big
