THE Jazz Cafe must surely rate among London's trendier venues, so it is with great pleasure that Indielondon is able to bring you a preview of the best it has to offer over the coming weeks, months and, uh, year.

Highlights over the next couple of weeks include...

Monday, March 31 - The Blockheads

Ian Dury's former backing band continues to breathe new life into the great songwriter's legacy. The band features high-octane Israeli saxist Gilad Atzmon, drummer Dylan Howe (son of Steve Howe) and original Blockheads Norman Watt-Roy and Chas Jankel plus a welter of special guests.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, April 1, 2 & 3 - Richie Havens + Dayna Kurtz
The great folk-soul singer and songwriter, who held the multitudes spellbound for three hours at Woodstock '69, returns to launch his excellent new album 'Wishing Well'. With a fiery, poignant singing style Richie is a consumate live performer and ecent collaborations with Groove Armada have only increased his renown.

Friday and Saturday, April 4 & 5 - Dave McMurray

Described by the great Bob James as 'a truly unique musician', Dave McMurray has worked as a producer, writer and saxophonist with The Rolling Stones, George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Was Not Was and many others. A true musicians' musician, he brings his full US band to Jazz Café to launch his latest album 'Nu Life Stories' ('File under: every home should have one' - Blues & Soul magazine).

Sunday, April 6 - Antonio Forcione

'This is John Martyn for a new generation who, when he isn't using his guitar as a percussive insturment is literally reinventing it. The guy is brilliant' - Edinburgh Evening News. Blending latin, jazz, blues, flamenco and Indian music, Antonio Forcione is a true original, 'one of the great acoustic guitarists' - The Guardian, and not to be missed. He appears with his quartet featuring cello and percussion.

Club nights - Every Friday Evening, Back For More

Every Friday - Strange Games & Things
DJs Ben & Pete (BBE) funk, soul, dancefloor jazz, disco boogie, Latin and Afro breaks. Band: 7pm-10.30pm; Club: 10.30pm - 2am. Tickets £7/£5 with flyer (after 10.30pm)

Every Saturday - Messin' Around + DJs Phil Levene, Adrian Gibson, Snowboy, Perry & Andy + Jazz Cotech Dancers - live set 'round midnight. Doors 7pm-2am. Tickets: £9/£5 with flyer for the club only (after 10.30pm).

Every Sunday Lunchtime - The Jazz Jam featuring Tomorrow's Warriors
Midday - 4pm; Entrance £2 (or £1 with musical instrument). Open Jam session - musicians are invited to play with the band and any visiting artists. Lunch now served every Sunday.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:
The Jazz Cafe has announced that, due to the rescheduling of the release date of his forthcoming album, Jose Feliciano has postponed his shows until later this year. The new dates are Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, October 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 & 16.

All existing tickets will be valid for these dates, and in addition ticket holders are entitled to free entry to Jazz Café next week (for the date on their ticket only). Alternatively, a full refund can be obtained at point of purchase.
