Vocally, Martina evokes singers of yesteryear with a nod towards
the likes of Billy Holiday and Nina Simone.
The single will be backed by a live version of Too Tough to
Die, Anything and Ilya, which were taken from the Zoe
Ball XFM studio session recorded on August 28, 2003.
The release of Soul Food will be supported by a gig at
the legendary Jazz Café, in Camden, on April 20.
This will be Martinas first UK show of the year. Her 2003
tour attracted rave reviews from the likes of The Independent,
The Guardian and The Times, with The Evening Standard describing
her as The best female singing voice in Britain today.
Martina will be playing further dates in the Summer throughout
Europe, including the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival on Thursday,
July 8.
