NICOLE Kidman has been named as Australia’s richest entertainer,
after more than doubling her annual income last year.
The Oscar-winning actress earned an estimated A$25m (£10.3m)
in 2003 - the year in which she won best actress - according to
a survey, by Business Review Weekly.
Just 12 months earlier, she had only ranked eighth in the rich
list, having earned A$11.6m (£4.8m) in 2002.
But the talented star has enjoyed something of a prolific period,
of late, following numerous roles, in films such as The
Hours, Cold Mountain,
Dogville and The
Human Stain.

She is due to release a remake of The
Stepford Wives in the Summer and reportedly can now command
A$12m (£5m) per picture.
She even received A$5m (£2m) to star in an advertising
campaign, directed by Moulin
Rouge helmer, Baz Luhrmann, and has reportedly landed a lucrative
contract with Chanel perfume.
Ironically, Kidman is not Australian by birth. She was born in
Hawaii, and moved to Sydney, at the age of three, and has an Australian
passport.
Fellow ‘countryman’, Russell Crowe, who was born in
New Zealand but who has lived in Australia since childhood, came
fourth in the survey, with $20m (£8.3m).
The magazine reported: "Australian entertainers are at the
top of their game. Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe are arguably
the world's most prominent actors."
Other well-known Aussie performers appearing prominently in the
list are Abba tribute band, Bjorn Again, who came seventh, with
A$8.6m (£3.6m), while Neighbours star and singer, Delta
Goodrem, earned A$6.8m (£2.8m), beating fellow pop star,
Kylie Minogue's A$6m (£2.5m).
