SINGER/songwriter, Richie Pavledis, has released his second LP,
Minstrel, after returning to Australia from his second
Swiss tour.
Pavledis has had his songs recorded by rock and country outfits
for years and is a percussionist of some recognition.
After a lengthy career playing with numerous Western Australian
acts, he branched out and released a solo album, Long Distance
Dream, in 2001- the title track of which won the Western Australian
Music Industry (WAMI) for Best Blues Song.
Pavledis was awarded recording time as part of the WAMI prize
and this is where the 'Minstrel' sessions began.

Even before listening to Minstrel, one is struck by the
disconcertingly naff song titles, including In The Name Of
The Angel and Long Dark Night Of The Soul - but don't
judge Minstrel by this, as with all Australian country
and folk music, Pavledis is inspired by his surroundings, using
the beach and the Outback as his muses.
He is genuinely spiritual, which could be a bit jarring with
any cynical listeners.
If you do not want to hear about turquoise sea and the red land,
then do not buy this CD.
However, if you are a fan of Australian folk music, then have
a listen, you will be familiar with its subject matter, and I'm
sure, will appreciate the acoustic guitar, intimate delivery and
unselfconscious lyrics.
