Ted Craig, Artistic Director of the Warehouse Theatre, Croydon has circulated the following news item:

"First, the good: I'm very pleased to announce that we have managed to extend the run of our present production - Dick Barton, episode IV - The Flight of the Phoenix. The production has broken all existing Box Office records and was completely sold out by Christmas. The run is extended by three weeks, so the final performance will now be Sunday, February 23.

"However, February 23 is not only the last performance of The Flight of the Phoenix but is also the last performance of the last production by the Warehouse Theatre Company in our much-loved building. We are being forced to vacate the building, as it is proving impossible to maintain without a lot of money spent on it - and that kind of money is just not available. Also the site is up for development.

"May I emphasise that we are not going to close, we just won't have our own building to perform in for a while. Local press speculation has meant that the announcement had to be brought forward so that we are unable to give details of our future plans because they are still being drawn up! We will still mount productions in venues in Croydon and beyond, we'll be re-locating our regular Theatre4Kidz performances, still running the International Playwriting Festival, our Writers Workshop and our Youth Group, CRYPT".
