JEKYLL AND HYDE, The Musical, was first seen
in America over two decades ago and, more recently, in 1997, on
Broadway, where it ran for almost four years, with David Hasselhoff,
of Baywatch fame, as the eponymous 'duo'.
Robert Louis Stevenson's, Jekyll and Hyde is the classic
horror story. Set in 19th Century London, it's a chilling tale
of one man, a doctor, and his malevolent alter-ego.
Already well-known from book and film, it was adapted for stage
by Leslie Bricusse and Frank Wildhorn and included the songs,
A New Life, Someone Like You and This Is The Moment.
Plans to stage Jekyll and Hyde in London, in 2001, failed
- rumour even had it that it was to oust Willy Russell's long-running
and highly successful, Blood
Brothers, from the Phoenix Theatre.

However, plans are now well in hand
for an eight month tour of the UK, with actor/singer Paul Nicholas
in the title role.
Although probably best known for his role of Vince in BBCTV's
1980 sitcom, Just Good Friends, Nicholas has an impressive
number of musical stage roles to his credit.
They include Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Grease, Cats,
Blondel, Charlie Girl, Doctor Doolittle and The Pirates
of Penzance. And as recently as last year, he toured with
Fiddler on the roof.
Other stage credits include The Mysterious Mr Love,
Mixed Feelings and Snakes and Ladders. He is also
a successful producer, backing such shows as Saturday Night
Fever and Grease, both in the West End.
Jekyll and Hyde opens at Eastbourne's Congress Theatre
on August 30, 2004, (previews from August 24) before continuing
to more than 30 venues that include both Dartford and Wimbledon.
A West End premiere is being tipped for 2005, so watch this space.
