Rumpelstiltskin and co head for New Wimbledon

THIS Christmas, Horla Theatre Company brings the magical Rumplestiltskin and Other Grizzly Tales live to the New Wimbledon Theatre Studio.

Billed as a feast of funny, silly and chilling stories from far and wide, tales will include such classics as The Elves and The Shoemaker, from The Brothers Grimm and The Princess and The Pea, by Hans Christian Andersen.

Fifteen stories from eight countries featuring five weddings, four births, two dancing elves, one talking doll and 15 demises in a variety of fashions will be told by an ensemble of ten performers and musicians using mask, mime and puppetry.

The cast includes Rosie Armstrong (Quench at The Etcetera, Hamlet and The Taming of the Shrew for OpenHand), Carole Carpenter (Absent Friends at the Greenwich Playhouse), Chris Courtenay (Big Brother, The Murder Club at the Finborough), Derek Elwood (The Bubonic Play), Kathryn O'Reilly (Oedipus), Philip Buck (Sticks And Stones' for Reveal Theatre Company); Sarah Ratheram (Faustus, The Miller's Tales, The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Robin Hood with Ophaboom Theatre) and Dave Roberts , whose previous credits include The Jests of Skoggan, The Horla, Don Qand GRIMMS all for Horla.

Horla Theatre Company, formerly the resident company at the Rose and Crown Theatre, in Hampton Wick, is renowned for staging the highly successful GRIMMS trilogy in Kingston and Greenwich.

Artistic director, Alistair Green, has most recently directed Dennis Potter's Brimstone & Treacle at the Bridewell Theatre for 1066 Productions.

His previous directing credits and adaptations include: GRIMMS - A Feast of Fairy Tales, The Stratagem & Other Stories (Crowley, Poe), and The Last Word (part of Just Desserts Festival) - all for Horla at The Rose and Crown Theatre.

Also GRIMMS 2003 at Greenwich Playhouse, The Magistrate (Maupassant) at Camden People's Theatre, and Beckett's Roughs For Theatre at The White Bear.
