Preview: Jack Foley
JOHN Squire is to hold the first ever exhibition of his paintings
at the ICA, London from February 14 to February 16, 2004.
Displaying the artwork used from The Stone Roses through to his
current solo material, the exhibition will be a rare chance to
see Squires work.
Throughout The Stone Roses reign in the late eighties and
nineties, Squires paintings, influenced by Jackson Pollock
and the abstract expressionists, became synonymous with the rapidly
evolving Manchester scene.
The paintings for Made Of Stone and The Stone
Roses graced the cover of many a teenagers T-shirt
throughout the country.
Moving on to The Seahorses towards the end of the nineties and
the Warchild album Help, Squires work graduated
towards inspiration from the likes of Jasper Johns.
