Story: Jack Foley
THE first half of 2005 is shaping up to be a busy year for The
Chemical Brothers, what with tour dates being announced all the
time, and a new single and album on the way.
Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons have just announced two extra London
dates, in addition to their existing late-night dates at Brixton
Academy on March 18 and 19, 2005.
The duo will also be playing Brixton Academy on May 26
and 27, 2005
The tour dates follow news of the fifth studio album which, according
to the duos' website, will be called Push The Button
and will be released on January 24.
First single, Galvanize, is out on January 17, and is
already attracting strong word of mouth based on radio play.
It is described as a Middle Easton-flavoured juggernaut, featuring
A Tribe Called Quest legend, Q-Tip.

Old sparring partner, Tim
Burgess (of The Charlatans)
continues a run of sublime hook-ups with The Boxer, while
representing the hip-hop world is Anwar Superstar, brother of
Mos Def and here vocalist of 'Left Right.
From the other end of the cultural spectrum comes Kele Okereke,
singer with hot new art-rock outfit Bloc Party, who contributes
some chopped up, mantric vocals on Believe.
While a supposedly brilliant Chemical Brothers' throwback comes
int he form of Close Your Eyes, which recalls the psychedelic
soul of the Chemicals' past collaborations with Mercury Rev and
Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips - this time, the crative partners
are the massively-tipped The Magic Numbers, a double-sibling foursome.
The Chemical Brothers will also be appearing at The Big Day Out
gigs in Australia and New Zealand in January, as well as at AX
in Tokyo, Japan, on February 11 and 12, 2005.
