Story: Jack Foley
EVEN Johansen, aka Magnet, returns with his delightful take on
Lay Lady Lady, a brilliant cover of Bob Dylan's classic,
featuring Irish chanteuse Gemma Hayes on March 22, on Ultimate
Dilemma/East West.
The single is taken from his acclaimed album, On Your Side,
released last year, which was recorded mainly in a pigeon-loft
in Lockerbie, rural Scotland.
Since enjoying success with the album, Magnet has returned to
his native hometown, of Bergen, Norway, where you will find him
fishing in the fjords and whistling sweet melodies in his farm
cottage.
But following on from last year's headline shows, and support
dates with Ed Harcourt, Kathryn Williams and The Beautiful South,
Magnet will be returning to the UK for several headline shows
(which took place in February) followed by a series of dates supporting
Zero 7.

Magnet finished the year by picking up props from magazines across
the UK and Europe as an album of year (From Uncut to Jockeyslut).
He was named album of the year in some of the biggest Norwegian
national newspapers, and has recently been nominated for awards
at By:lam and the Norwegian Grammy awards in his native homeland
this month.
The NME described On Your Side as 'simply a lovely, lovely record',
while the Sunday Times said: "At one with its surroundings,
this is a stunning must-buy release. 3/3"
Magnet's remaining Zero 7 support dates are as follows:
March 22 - Birmingham Carling Academy
March 23 - Norwich UEA
March 25 - Brighton Dome
March 26/27 - London Brixton Academy
