Buffy The Vampire Slayer set for revival
Story by Jack Foley
BUFFY The Vampire Slayer could be set for a big screen makeover without the assistance of original creator Joss Whedon.
The Hollywood Reporter claims that original movie director Fran Rubel Kuzui and her husband, Kaz Kuzui, are working with Vertigo Entertainment on the possibility of reviving the story in movie form. The project is being described as a remake or re-launch rather than a sequel or prequel.
Furthermore, the new Buffy would have no connection to the long-running TV series starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, and would not use supporting characters such as Angel or Spike.
Kuzui is reportedly looking to restart the story without threatening the universe created by Whedon – although he hasn’t ruled out seeking Whedon’s collaboration in some form once more details have been finalised.
He told the Hollywood Reporter: “Everything has its moment. Every movie takes on a life at some point, and this seems like the moment to do this.”
