EMILY Blunt is to be honoured as the British actress of the year at the annual gala presentation of The British Academy of Film and Television/Los Angeles.

Blunt’s Hollywood career has rocketed since she won acclaim alongside Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada, which she followed with eye-catching support turns in Dan In Real Life, Charlie Wilson’s War and The Jane Austen Book Club.

She was most recently seen in period drama The Young Victoria and will next be seen alongside Amy Adams in the indie drama Sunshine Cleaning, about two sisters who clear up crime scenes, and period thriller The Wolfman alongside Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins.

According to Variety, Blunt will receive the accolade at a ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles on November 5.
