Righteous Kill - De Niro and Pacino hit London's red carpet
Story by Jack Foley
SCREEN legends Al Pacino and Robert De Niro entertained thousands of film fans in London’s Leicester Square on Sunday (September 14, 2008), at the UK premiere of their latest film, Righteous Kill.
The police thriller finds the veteran actors reuniting for the first time since Heat, in 1995, as two New York police detectives on the hunt for a serial killer.
The film is directed by Jon Avnet and co-stars rapper 50 Cent, John Leguizamo and Donnie Wahlberg. It opens in UK cinemas on September 26 and shot straight to No.3 at the US box office with an estimated $16.5 million in ticket sales. Find out more
Speaking on the red carpet, De Niro – who spent an hour signing autographs for fans – said that he hoped the two would do “another one or two” movies together at least, and added: “We’ve always had a great respect for each other.”
His co-star Pacino revealed that it was De Niro who had persuaded him to take part in the project, and that they’d enjoyed working together again. He also expressed the hope that another feature would be forthcoming, particularly as demand from movie fans appeared to be high.
