"IT'S like I'm walking around in my underwear!" - so
says the leggy blonde beauty that is Jessica Simpson, when talking
about her upcoming performance in The Dukes of Hazzard.
Speaking to Empire movie magazine, the breakthrough actress said
she loves playing Daisy Duke, the super-sexy cousin to Bo and
Luke who frequently has to use her leggy charms to get her relatives
out of trouble.
And on the strength of the stills to have been released from
the movie so far, she's sure to have red-blooded males foaming
at the mouth.
The Dukes of Hazzard is, of course, the big-budget new movie
inspired by the classic CBS TV series, which revolved around Bo
and Luke Duke, as they consistently fell foul of the law for running
moonshine with their Uncle Jesse and, of course, Daisy.
The law in question, however, was every bit as corrupt as the
brothers themselves, taking the form of Sheriff Rosco P Coltrane
and Boss Hogg.
And each ensuing episode featured plenty of car chases involving
the orange Confederate Flag bedecked General Lee and at least
one river jump.

Think Convoy meets Smokey & The
Bandit for some idea of what to expect and you have every reason
to believe the movie should be a barrel of laughs.
Dukes of Hazzard fans, however, are waiting with baited breath
to see whether director, Jay Chandrasekhar, gets the mix right.
From sneak peeks so far, the car looks to be perfect, as does
the size of Daisy's shorts.
But the casting has left a little to be desired. The film features
Seann William Scott and Johnny Knoxville as the brothers, as well
as Simpson, Burt Reynolds and Willie Nelson.
But while Knoxville and Scott sound like a mouth-watering comic
partnership, Simpson is the unknown quantity.
For starters, the original Daisy was a brunette, while Simpson
is most definitely blonde. Plus, it's Simpson's first movie role,
which she got after strong competition from Britney Spears.
The film also comes from The Broken Lizard comedy troupe, whose
past work hasn't been that impressive - remember Super Troopers
and Club Dread?
Needless to say, the producers are talking the film's prospects
up.
Chandrasekhar has promised plenty of outrageous car chases, a
la Smokey and the Bandit, while Simpson is determined that her
shorts won't be the only thing that's talked about.
As she told Empire when asked about winning the role from Britney:
"She has a cute butt and I think she would have been cute
in the role - but I'm glad I got it!"
