REVOLVER is the highly anticipated new thriller from director,
Guy Ritchie, that looks set to restore his reputation as one of
Britain's best young directors, while banishing the memory of
Swept Away.
The film stars Jason Statham (Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels,
Snatch and The Transporter), Ray Liotta ( Narc), Andre Benjamin
(of Outkast fame) and Vincent Pastore (The Sopranos) and looks
like being another gritty but hilarious gangsters' tale.
Statham plays gambler and conman Jake Green who winds up in prison
after taking the rap for mean Dorothy Macha (Ray Liotta).
After his release, Jake becomes unbeatable at the tables using
a formula for the ultimate con that he learned from two mysterious
fellow prisoners.
It's not long, therefore, before Jake is ready to take his revenge.
Macha is plotting to eliminate his ruthless rival, Lord John,
and has staked his credibility on a huge drug deal with the all-powerful
Sam Gold.

So Jake visits Macha at his casino
and humiliates him publicly in a game of chance.
Macha, fearing more of the same medicine, sends his goons to
'take care of' Jake but his life is saved by enigmatic Zach (Pastore)
who, with his equally inscrutable partner, Avi ( Benjamin), offers
Jake protection.
gainst his better judgment, Jake accepts but soon finds himself
playing the very last game he wants to be playing, with danger
at every turn.
The film is also produced by Luc Besson (Leon, The Transporter)
and is based on a script from Ritchie himself.
It will receive its world premiere at the Odeon Leicester Square
on Tuesday, September 20, before being released on Thursday, September
22.
Advance word suggests that Ritchie has recaptured his form -
and reporedly even cut his wife, Madonna, from her one scene.
While cast member, Benjamin, is quoted as saying: "I think
people will be pleased with this film. In Revolver, I play a loan
shark and I think Guy Ritchie fans are just going to be happy
because they got on him about the Swept Away thing. He’s
back to the shoot-em-up Guy Ritchie."
