Big Momma's House 3 on the way

Big Momma's House

Story by Jack Foley

A THIRD entry into the Big Momma’s House franchise is being readied for the big screen.

Variety reports that Twentieth Century Fox has hired Randi Mayem Singer to pen the script with a view to enabling Martin Lawrence to reprise his role as the undercover detective.

The original Big Momma’s House proved a global hit in 2000, taking $174 million, while its sequel pulled in a further $138 million in 2006.

Singer has previously written another cross-dressing comedy, Mrs Doubtfire, and has recently completed work on forthcoming family comedy The Tooth Fairy.

News of a third Big Momma comes in the same week that Lawrence has also been linked to a possible third instalment in the Bad Boys franchise with Will Smith. Both actors have expressed an interest in coming back if the right script can be found.
