Billy Bob Thornton set for knockout new role

BILLY Bob Thornton is to star in a new boxing drama based on a novel from the same mind behind Million Dollar Baby.
Pound For Pound will focus on a retired, widowed boxer who is suffering from depression following the death of his grandson in a car accident as well as an emerging Latino fighter from a difficult background. The lives of the two cross in unexpected ways.
Thornton will play the retired fighter and the search is currently on for a young actor to play the teenage Latino star, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Ron Shelton will adapt the screenplay from FX Toole’s source novel and will also direct. But while the story exists in similarly dark material to Million Dollar Baby, producers promise that the film will deliver a more life-affirming, hopeful ending.
