Bryan Singer developing Excalibur remake
Story by Jack Foley
BRYAN Singer looks set to direct a remake of King Arthur legend Excalibur.
Variety reports that Warner Bros has secured the rights to remake John Boorman’s 1981 original, which Singer is currently producing.
Excalibur follows the origins of the enchanted sword, the creation of the Knights of the Round Table, Merlin the wizard and the bloody quest for the Holy Grail. It starred Liam Neeson, Helen Mirren, Ciaran Hinds and Gabriel Byrne.
Singer’s involvement in the project adds to his already extensive collection of new projects. He recently signed on to direct and produce a big screen version of Battlestar Galactica and looks set to make Jack The Giant Killer his next project.
The latter film is a spin on the Jack & The Beanstalk legend and finds a young farmer leading an expedition into the land of giants to recover a kidnapped princess.
