Fourth Bourne movie getting readied for 2011
Story by Jack Foley
TWO new scripts are being written for the fourth Jason Bourne movie with a view to ensuring that it’s ready for release in 2011.
Josh Zetumer has just been hired by Universal to devise an all-new adventure for Matt Damon’s assassin, while George Nolfi, who worked on The Bourne Ultimatum, is also developing his own idea.
The decision to develop parallel scripts was taken by Universal after Nolfi was forced to temporarily step away from Bourne 4 to complete work on another Matt Damon project, The Adjustment Bureau.
But it is hoped that once both scripts have been completed, Universal will be able to decide which idea is the best way forward with a view to luring both Damon and director Paul Greengrass back. The distributor is also keen to include it as part of its 2011 release slate.
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the practice of commissioning parallel scripts is nothing new as the same approach was taken for the likes of X-Men: The Last Stand, Wolverine and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
