Channing Tatum and Jamie Bell join Eagle of the Ninth

GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Story by Jack Foley

CHANNING Tatum and Jamie Bell have joined the cast of Kevin Macdonald’s Eagle of the Ninth, an epic murder-mystery set during Roman times.

The thriller, which also stars Mark Strong and Donald Sutherland, follows a young centurion named Marcus Aquila (Tatum) as he is sent from Rome to Scotland to investigate the disappearance of the Ninth Legion.

The case has particular resonance for Aquila given that his father was in charge of the Ninth.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Bell will play Aquila’s Celtic servant, although it is not yet known which roles Strong and Sutherland will occupy.

Shooting is already under way in Hungary, with funding supplied by Focus Features and Film Four.

Chaning Tatum can currently be seen in GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra, while Mark Strong will be the main villain in Guy Ritchie’s forthcoming Sherlock Holmes revival.
