Die Hard 4.0 receives UK premiere
Story by Jack Foley
ACTION hero Bruce Willis attended the UK premiere of his latest movie Die Hard 4.0 in London’s Leicester Square on Wednesday (June 20), signing autographs and joking with fans.
The popular star – famous for playing Detective John McClane in three previous Die Hard movies – attended with fellow cast members Timothy Olyphant, Justin Long and Maggie Q.
Director Len Wiseman also posed for photographs and signed autographs with his wife, Kate Beckinsale, who he met while directing the Underworld movies.
Die Hard 4.0 marks the first film in the successful series in 12 years and is a return to the high-octane template established in the first three films.
When an attack on the vulnerable United States infrastructure begins to shut down the entire nation, it’s left to McClane to provide a foil for the mysterious figure behind the shattering scheme.
Needless to say, the stage is set for more spectacular carnage, including a car being crashed into a helicopter and a duel between a lorry and a fighter plane.
Commenting on the franchise at an earlier press conference, Willis said that the time was right to bring McClane back and he paid tribute to director Wiseman for using mostly real stunts, rather than CGI.
It meant he picked up a scrapbook’s worth of scrapes and bruises but despite feeling grouchy when on set, he admits that the suffering was worth it.
He even hinted at the possibility of a fifth film in the series, saying that they had better get round to it soon.
Die Hard 4.0 opens in UK cinemas on Wednesday, July 4.
