Guy Ritchie to direct Lobo

GUY Ritchie is to direct a live action adaptation of DC Comics superhero Lobo.
Based on a character who originated in the 1983 comic book story Omega Men, Lobo will focus on the adventures of an alien interstellar bounty hunter who is 7ft tall, blue-skinned, indestructible and who likes to drive a pimped out motorcycle.
The film will see him landing on Earth and teaming up with a small town teenage girl to capture four fugitive creatures who are wreaking havoc, according to Variety.
Ritchie is due to begin work on Lobo early next year with a view to bringing the same irreverent, gruff tone that he brought to earlier works such as Snatch and Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels. The film will also have a strong focus on visual effects.
The director has just completed work on Sherlock Holmes, with Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law, which is due for release in cinemas on Boxing Day.
