Machete to begin shooting in five weeks?

Robert Rodriguez

Story by Jack Foley

KEENLY anticipated new Robert Rodriguez film Machete is to start filming in five weeks, it has been revealed.

Empire Online reports that the Danny Trejo vehicle, based on a short spoof trailer Rodriguez directed for his Grindhouse collaboration with Quentin Tarantino, is finally to get a full length feature ahead of the director’s other forthcoming projects, which include Sin City 2 and Predators.

Star Trejo will play the Machete of the title, a knife-wielding assassin with a fondness for violent deaths and buxom women.

There are no details on plot or fellow cast members as yet, but Trejo told Gordon And The Whale that he has had the call from Rodriguez to be ready to begin in the next five weeks.

In the same interview, he also put a stop to rumours that he would appear in new Sylvester Stallone action vehicle The Expendables.
