Tom Cruise to join Cameron Diaz on Wichita

Tom Cruise in Lions For Lambs

Story by Jack Foley

TOM Cruise looks set to unite with Cameron Diaz on the new action comedy Wichita now that both have approved the script.

The film, to be directed by James Mangold (of Walk The Line fame), would see Cruise playing a secret agent who pops in and out of the life of a single woman.

According to Variety, Cruise’s decision to join Wichita ends months of speculation surrounding which project the actor would commit to next.

He’s been seriously linked with the Len Wiseman-directed thriller Motorcade, as well as David Cronenberg’s The Matarese Circle alongside Denzel Washington.

It’s still possible that Cruise will do another of those projects in the future but right now Twentieth Century Fox intends to complete negotiations with Cruise and Diaz for Wichita with a view to securing a release in the summer of 2010.

Cruise last appeared alongside Diaz in the Cameron Crowe-directed Vanilla Sky. His most recent film, Valkyrie, is released on DVD and Blu-ray on Monday, June 1.
