Tony Scott to direct Chippendale movie
Story by Jack Foley
TONY Scott is to direct a new film about the rise and fall of Chippendales creator Steve Banerjee.
The as yet untitled movie will chart Banerjee’s rise from a pump gas attendant in Culver City to running a high-end nightclub that evolved into Chippendales.
As his success grew, however, Banerjee became increasingly competitive and paranoid and even hired a hitman to murder the choreographer that helped create the Chippendales after relations between the two of them soured.
After being arrested, Banerjee died in prison while awaiting trial.
Scott will direct the film in a tone similar to his hit movie, True Romance, according to Variety. He is currently shooting Unstoppable with Denzel Washington and Chris Pine.
